The district chairs and officers of Georgia AAU have made a collective donation of $500 each for a total of $6,000 to a deserving charity of their choosing under the AAU Cares program. The receiving charities were not limited to athletic organizations and included groups that provide a wide range of services. Among the charities chosen were organizations that support animal rescue, the homeless community, children of the military, church food pantries and general support for families in need. The AAU commends the Georgia AAU for its work in the community through AAU Cares.

The AAU Cares program was started in 2016 as a way for the AAU to give back to the community. While the AAU strives to provide athletes with first-class athletic opportunities, we also look beyond the athletic surface.  We strongly believe in instilling a sense of social responsibility in our 700,000 members nationwide.
