AAU Volleyball is conducted under the AAU Code, AAU Volleyball Handbook and the current playing rules of USA Volleyball, as modified by the AAU National Executive Committee.

2010 Age Divisions (Boys & Girls)

18:U - Born on or after September 1, 1991
16:U - Born on or after September 1, 1993
14:U - Born on or after September 1, 1995
12:U - Born on or after September 1, 1997
10:U - Born on or after September 1, 1999

Net Heights

Net Height: Boys 8' - U18, U16
Net Height: Boys 7'4 - U14
Net Height: Boys 7' - U12, U10

Net Height: Girls 7'4 - U20, U18, U16, U14
Net Height: Girls 7' - U12, U10

Playing Court:

All Divisions: 16 m x 8 m (52'6" x 26'3")

HIGHLIGHTED PLAYING RULES

The AAU Junior Beach Volleyball Tour will utilize the following highlighted playing rules this summer.

Rally Scoring: 2 games to 21, with third game to 15 (if necessary)
or 1 game to 28 (rally scoring)

Let Serve is Permitted

Block counts as a contact

No Open hand dinks/tips

One Toss per serve

Players may not "set" the serve

Players handling the ball must set the ball in direction they are facing or directly behind them (shoulders squared) when returning the ball over the net.

Smaller size FIVB/AVP Regulation Court

Side Changes in multiples of seven (7).

New for 2010: Each team is allowed one time-out and one technical time-out per set. The technical time-out is not awarded to each team, but rather a shared time-out when the total score reaches 21 during games 1 and 2 and 15 points during game 3. There is only one technical time out per set. For single games to 28, the technical timeout is shared when the combined score reaches 28.

DISTRICT/REGIONAL/OPEN TOURNAMENTS FORMAT

Tournaments are Pool Play followed by single-elimination playoffs. Games or full matches may be played.


AAU NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS FORMAT

10U DIVISION:
Single Day Tournament; Pool Play followed by Single-Elimination Playoffs

18U/16U/14U/12U DIVISIONS:
Two Day Tournament; Two Rounds of Pool Play followed by Singe-Elimination Playoffs
Not All Teams will advance to Day 2

Tour Championship Format
U18 DIVISION:
Modified double elimination format for this season ending event, however, the event is a 1 day tournament.

AAU JUNIOR OLYMPIC GAMES/BEST OF THE BEACH

Two Day Format; All teams compete on both days. Full matches. Day 1 Pool Play followed by
Bracket Play on Day 2
